Twin Cedars grabbed a pair of wins Friday night as the softball team defeated Mormon Trail 10-0 and the baseball team snuck past the Saints 5-4.

Ali Mockenhaupt was fantastic in the circle for Twin Cedars softball as she hurled six no-hit innings. Jetta Sterner paced the offense with three hits as the Sabers finished off the Saints via the mercy rule. The Sabers have scored a combined 27 runs in their last two contests, and Head Coach Zack Dunkin said that producing runs will be key against Class 1A’s No. 5 team Southeast Warren on Monday. The Sabers record now sits at 12-1 in conference and 23-8 overall.

Following an exciting day of baseball Thursday, Twin Cedars kept things interesting on Friday needing extra innings to finish off the Saints. Kade Dunkin walked it off in the ninth with a game-winning single. He also contributed three stolen bases. Mason Sanders got the start and threw 6⅓ innings of one hit baseball with six strikeouts. Sanders also went 2-3 at the plate with a pair of stolen bases. Dallas Clark recorded the win, pitching 2⅔ innings and striking out five. With the win, Twin Cedars now has a conference record of 11-4 and an overall record of 12-6.

Twin Cedars softball has the weekend off, while Sabers baseball hosts North Mahaska this morning at 10 a.m.
