Pella will celebrate Independence Day on Monday, July 5th. Paul Kingma with the City of Pella 4th of July Committee says activities will begin that afternoon at 1 p.m. with swimming at the Pella Aquatic Center. Kids games, crafts, activities, and food stands at Central Park, fishing at Caldwell Park, downtown carriage rides, and entertainment on the Tulip Toren will all begin at 3 p.m. on July 5th. Those lead up to the annual parade at 6 p.m., which Kingma says will follow the same route as 2020, which will start at Franklin Street near Pella Historical Society and loop around the square before heading south on Main Street. The Pella City Band will perform patriotic marches at 8 p.m. on the Tulip Toren, leading up to Fireworks near Madison Elementary at 10 p.m. The KNIA/KRLS Lil’ Big Red Radio and Big Red Radio will be participating in area 4th of July celebrations, with special patriotic music airing on KNIA/KRLS during community fireworks displays.
