Both of Melcher-Dallas’ summer squads came away with impressive victories on the road against Orient-Macksburg as the softball team won 12-2 while the baseball team won 11-5.
The Saints’ softball squad used a big fourth inning to pull away from the home Bulldogs. Seven different players had hits for Melcher-Dallas, including a bases-clearing double from Haley Godfrey in the eight-run fourth. Emma Clark also had a two-run double in the inning. BrieAnna Remster picked up the win on the mound, giving up two runs on five hits. The Saints improved to 23-7 on the year.
The Saints’ baseball squad used a six-run fifth inning to get the victory. Four players for Melcher-Dallas had two hits in the game, including a single, double, and three RBIs from Ryan Krpan. Steven Krpan and Logan Godfrey both went two for five with an RBI. Steven picked up the win on the mound, giving up five runs on four hits in 5.2 innings of work. Melcher-Dallas now stands at 12-10 on the season.
Both teams will be back in action today against non-conference opponent Sigourney. The baseball squad will be on the road and will start at 6:00 PM, while the softball squad will be at home and will begin at 7:00 PM.
