Twin Cedars softball took on the 5th ranked team in class 1A Monday night, falling to Southeast Warren 3-1. The Sabers’ baseball contest at Columbus Junction was cancelled due to heavy rainfall in southeastern Iowa.
On the softball diamond, the Sabers knew they would need to manufacture runs to pull off the upset. Those runs just never came as Twin Cedars scored just once on a double by Chloe Durian, who was 2-3 at the plate to lead the offense. Rylee Dunkin added a base knock and two stolen bases, while Grace Bailey took the loss in relief of Ali Mockenhaupt. The loss drops the Sabers to 23-9 on the year.
The Twin Cedars baseball game against Columbus Junction was rained out, and the game will not be made up. The Sabers remain 12-7 on the season.
Both Twin Cedars summer sports teams will be hosting tonight as the softball team welcomes Diagonal to Bussey, while the baseball team matches up with Ankeny Christian. Both games will begin at 5:30 p.m.
