Melcher-Dallas’ summer sports squads both blew leads at the end of games as the baseball team lost to Moravia 8-5, while the softball squad lost in walk-off fashion to No. 5 in Class 1A Southeast Warren 6-5.

The Saints’ baseball squad surrendered seven straight runs after taking a 5-1 lead in the third. Owen Mann went two for three with an RBI. Ryan Krpan gave up eight runs in 4.1 innings of work. Logan Godfrey also went two for two on the day. The loss drops Melcher-Dallas to 12-11 on the year.

The Saints’ softball squad fell to Southeast Warren after taking a 5-3 lead after five innings. However, it was a combination of five errors and ten hits surrendered by BrieAnna Remster that doomed Melcher-Dallas. Remster picked up the loss on the mound despite going three for three with a home run and four RBIs. The loss drops Melcher-Dallas to 24-8 on the year.

Both teams will be back in action today for a Bluegrass Conference matchup with Seymour. Both games will begin at 5:30 PM.
