New ownership is taking over a longtime cornerstone in the City of Pella’s downtown.

Dave and Kristi Balk are passing ownership of Jaarsma Bakery to Carl and Lisa (Jaarsma) Larson following two decades of leading and operating the business. Lisa is the great-great-granddaughter of the bakery’s founder, Harmen Jaarsma. Both Carl and Lisa have worked at the bakery for the past five years and are planning to keep the Jaarsma family recipes.
