The pitchers’ were the highlight to end the final week of the 2021 Little Hawkeye Conference season, as Indianola knocked off Pella 1-0 in a league baseball game heard live on 92.1 KRLS and 94.3 KNIA Friday.
Pella’s Jason Knox and Indianola’s Casey Stecker largely kept the offenses in check in a pair of complete game performances that saw the only run of the game scored immediately after the only error, committed by the Dutch defense in the 6th.
Knox struck out seven batters in the formidable Indians’ lineup that finished the conference season as the best in the league, while Stecker took just 75 pitches to toss a four-hit shutout.
Indianola improves to 21-9 overall and finishes the conference season at 13-7 and start a stretch of 10 games in seven days Tuesday.
Pella falls to 15-12 and 10-9 in the league, and will head to Centerville Monday.
