Knoxville Hospital & Clinics and 21st Century Rehab will host a pre-season screening day for area high school student-athletes on Saturday, July 17th. The purpose is to identify muscular strengths, imbalances or weaknesses to help prevent injury during the season. Physical Therapist Kelly Leeper says this screening can identify potential issues before they are noticed.
“The reason we want to get ahead of this is that some of these injuries can be minor, or they can be major. And they can alter how a student goes forward with physical activity, possibly for the rest of their life. Sometimes they are something of the chronic nature, something we can correct with their running form, we can prevent something from becoming an injury.”
The screening runs from 9:00 a.m. to noon on Saturday, July 17th at the Knoxville High School gym. People attending the screening day will need to park in the back lot of the high school and follow the signs directing them to the correct door to walk in for the gym. The screening will take approximately 30-45 minutes. Click here to register.
