pleasantville-3

Pleasantville’s baseball squad continues their Cinderella playoff run, knocking off West Marshall in the Substate Semifinal with a 4-3 come-from-behind victory.

The Trojans fought back from being down 3-1 by scoring three runs in the sixth inning. The go-ahead run was batted in by Jonah Schumacher, who had a career-high four hits in the game. Jake DeJoode picked up the win on the mound, giving up just three runs on four hits and striking out five in six innings of work. Austin McMillin picked up the save in the victory. What was most impressive about the victory was Pleasantville won despite their hitters striking out 19 times. With the win, Pleasantville now goes to 17-18-1 on the season, and will have a shot to go to the state tournament.

Pleasantville’s substate championship game will be Tuesday night in Indianola, as they will take on the number one overall seed in the substate, the Centerville Big Reds. The matchup will begin at 7:00 PM.
