We begin our Top Ten Sports Moments for the 2020/2021 School Year from Knoxville with number ten. On December 1st, the Knoxville Girls Basketball Squad hosted Van Meter. In a game that took three extra sessions, Knoxville was able to pull out the win 66-65 in triple overtime thanks to a Maggie Wilkins steal of an inbound pass and lay up as time expired to give Knoxville the win. The Panthers trailed at the half 28-20, but pulled ahead outscoring the Bulldogs 20-8 in the 3rd quarter before Van Meter outscored the Panthers by four in the 4th to tie the game at 50 at the end of regulation. With just over a second to play in the 3rd overtime and Van Meter inbounding the ball, Wilkins came over and stole the inbound hitting a wide open lay up at the buzzer, giving Knoxville the win. Wilkins finished the game with 38 points, which was one off the single game school record, and tied a single game record with 11 steals. Wilkins went on to average a single season record 23.8 points per game this winter, she also set a record for the best single season free throw percentage at nearly 78%, and established a career free throw mark of nearly 72%.
