A major DOT project will reroute Highway 92 traffic in eastern Marion County in a matter of weeks. Engineer Tyler Christian says Highway T17 recently received improvements in anticipation of the detour.
“The bigger project that’s going to be fairly impactful to motorists in Marion County would be the closure of Highway 92 and the rerouting of traffic onto T17 between Highway 92 and Pella. Earlier this year, the DOT did some patching on T17 in preparation for that additional traffic volume and heavy truck traffic they expect to see.”
The closure is to replace the bridge over Muchakinock Creek west of Oskaloosa. Traffic will be detoured onto Highway T17 to Highway 163. The project is expected to begin August 16th and last around 21 days.
