Heather Ussery was named the new Knoxville City Manager earlier this week, removing the interim title she previously had. Mayor Brian Hatch says that while each candidate the city council interviewed was impressive, Ussery’s passion and experience stood out. He says having a Knoxville native in the position is extremely advantageous.

“She loves the community, she’s very passionate about Knoxville, and that means a lot to me, I love that. The relationships she has, that means a lot. She’s worked with a lot of our staff, they’ve already established those relationships. She works so well with people, that’s another strong point she has. It was just a great fit. I was very happy to see her get that position and help move us forward.”

Ussery was previously the Assistant City Manager, and served in various capacities in City Hall. Hear more from Mayor Hatch and Ussery on an upcoming Let’s Talk Knoxville.
