melcher-dallas-3

The countdown of the top ten stories of the 2020-21 school year for Melcher-Dallas takes us to the second of two long-time coaches to retire this season.

After 32 years at the helm, Saints’ softball coach Jim Crozier announced his retirement from the program. Crozier retired with over 600 wins in 906 games as head coach. In the 2021 season, Crozier’s team finished with a 27-9 record, tying a school record for most wins in a season. The wins included ending a 27-game conference winning streak by knocking off Twin Cedars. Crozier states that it was time to take a step back.

It also included winning streaks of six and seven games and winning the Northwood-Kensett tournament. Melcher-Dallas’ season ended in the second round of the playoffs, losing to Twin Cedars. Crozier will stay on as Melcher-Dallas’ athletic director. It is unknown who will be taking over the helm in Crozier’s place.
