Drought conditions once again largely remained unchanged locally in the latest U.S. Drought Monitor Report.
Abnormally dry conditions have persisted in most of Marion and Warren Counties for several weeks. Moderate drought continues in northern Marion County as well. That area in particular received more than an inch of heavy rain Thursday afternoon as a cold front set up to pass through the area.
Little drought relief is in the forecast with no significant precipitation on the horizon, although a more mild air mass settles into the region, according to the National Weather Service, with daytime highs in the low-to-mid 80s and overnight lows in the lower 60s expected through the middle of next week.
