Marion County Public Health has slowly shifted its focus from solely COVID-19 back to normal operations. Director Kim Dorn says those who are high-risk should get vaccinated and continue to take general health precautions.
“The most important thing for people to do now is if you’re at high risk, make sure you get your vaccine. Use those normal public health things that we’ve talked about since the beginning: washing your hands frequently, using hand sanitizer, staying home when you’re sick or you know that you’re positive, stay home so you’re not spreading it. It continues to be harder on some populations than others. Children, youth, young adults, they’re normally not as large of a risk of bad outcomes. But the elderly and people with multiple health conditions are more at risk. This group needs to be more vigilant in trying to avoid exposure.”
Marion County Public Health says individuals should contact their local pharmacy to get their shot.
