After having their first meet cancelled due to excessive heat, PCM’s cross country squad currently is preparing for their first meet Tuesday.

Despite the boys’ team having low numbers with just two runners competing, the Mustangs have a girls’ state-qualifying runner from last season who is Sophomore Tiffany Koonce. Koonce will be looking to place higher this season, as well become a mentor for some of the new members on the squad. Coach Eric Karr tells KRLS Sports that he wants to get Koonce more mentally ready for the season because the sky’s the limit for her.

“Well, Tiffany Koonce is coming back as a sophomore who qualified for state last year. The more mentally tough and the more we can get to believe in herself, the better she is going to be.”

Karr’s squad will have their first meet of the season Tuesday at the Williamsburg Athletic Complex.
