The Indianola School Board held a discussion at Monday’s meeting regarding the use of the Indians name and logo, with the board deciding to continue to gather more information and public comment on the topic until a new board is sworn in beginning in 2022. Superintendent Art Sathoff tells KNIA News the issue was not only postponed because of new board members, but also because they are still prioritizing student safety.
“I think it’s tough to be patient if it’s an issue that is important to you, but this will take time. But something else that came out from the meeting was there are still pressing things on our plate with the pandemic, the budget, and all the things that go into having as normal a school year as possible.”
