Iowa State Auditor Rob Sand held town halls in Knoxville and Indianola Thursday. Sand spoke on the latest happenings in the auditor’s office, and shared messages on government accountability and American Rescue Plan dollar usage.

“One of the big things we’re talking about is accountability in government. I think a lot of us are continually frustrated by people who are insulated from consequences and feel like they can do what they want when they’re supposed to be serving the public. I get questions about that literally everywhere I go. Sometimes it’s locally focused, sometimes it’s state government. Another big thing right now is American Rescue Plan dollars and how to spend those in a way that’s compliant and will have a positive impact for our communities.”

Those in attendance had the opportunity to ask questions. These stops were part of Sand’s tour through each of Iowa’s 100 county seats.
