The third annual Your Life Matters 5K was held Saturday in Knoxville. Organization President Nicole Rodgers says this is an event to raise awareness for suicide prevention, and she’s honored to help bring this issue to the forefront.
“I have two cousins that both committed suicide, both at a very young age. It affected every aspect of my life. This day is a hard day. It brings a lot of tears and memories. But if we can save one family from going through what our family did, it’s all worth it.”
Participants ran a route through Knoxville, starting and ending just south of the high school. Bryant Rader of Knoxville was the overall first place winner. The KNIA/KRLS Lil’ Big Red Radio was on site to play music and make announcements. Full results of the race will be available in the coming days.
