The #15 in Class 4A Norwalk volleyball team opened Little Hawkeye Conference play Tuesday with a 3-0 sweep of Pella Christian. It was also the home opener for the Warriors. The Warriors trailed just once, as the Eagles scored the first point of the match.
A tightly contested first set saw Norwalk pull away for a 25-18 win. The Warriors extended the lead to double digits in set 2 for a 25-15 win. They closed the match by holding off a Pella Christian rally in set 3, winning 25-17. Norwalk senior Abby Brenizer says her team was able to keep the Eagles out of rhythm the entire night.
The Eagles were led by Sarah Gritters with 12 kills, one block and eight digs, while Chloe Huisman had 18 assists and two aces.
Norwalk moves to 6-3 overall and 1-0 in conference play. They return to action Thursday at a tournament hosted by ADM. Pella Christian is now 2-5 overall and 0-1 in the conference. They’ll host Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont Thursday.
