The young Melcher-Dallas Football Squad will take on Baxter on Friday. Of the 17 players on the roster, six are freshmen, and most of them play significant minutes. Coach Pat Ferguson tells KNIA Sports, it is a process for these players to improve, and knows they are not going to do that overnight.

Ferguson:
“I’m not saying they’re going to make giantic strides, they dominated against 8th graders last year, but now they’re 14 year olds playing against 18 year old men.”

Ferguson says the weight room must be utilized for the younger players to have any chance to improve. He adds that after Friday’s loss to Mormon Trail, it was an eye-opening experience for the younger players.
