Pleasantville’s cross country squad takes a trip to Wayne tonight for their first meet of the 2021 season.
The Trojans will compete in their first meet after having the meet at Knoxville last week cancelled due to extreme heat in the forecast. Pleasantville will compete with 16 other teams in the meet, including Albia, Lenox, Southeast Warren, and Lamoni. The Trojans are the only West Central Conference team that will be competing in the meet. Coach Aaron Fichter tells KNIA Sports that the emphasis for the first meet will be looking to see what his runners’ strengths and weaknesses are.
“The first meet is always the hardest as far as just what the race feels like. Kids always are expected to bounce back in the next meet and respond really well. It is really about just getting them out there and letting them race.”
The meet at Wayne High School will begin at 5:30 PM.
