To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks, the Knoxville Fire Department and Knoxville Township Rural Fire Department will host a free-will donation meal. Knoxville Fire Chief Cal Wyman encourages everyone to attend and remember the events of the day while enjoying fellowship.
“It’s going to be a time to get together and talk about the 20th anniversary of 9/11 and remember what happened that day. We vowed that day to never forget, so 20 years later, we should never forget what happened that day.”
Firetrucks and ambulances from departments in the county will be on display. The meal will be provided by the Knoxville Rotary Club, and runs from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on the east side of the square. Proceeds will go toward a 9/11 memorial.
The KNIA/KRLS Lil’ Big Red Radio will be on site to play music and make announcements.
