The Central College football team rolled up 591 yards of offense and opened the 2021 season with a 46-27 road victory over St. Olaf of Minnesota Saturday afternoon in a game heard live on 92.1 KRLS.
The Dutch never trailed, getting a pair of first quarter touchdown passes from fifth-year senior Blaine Hawkins to sophomore sensation Logan Mont.
After St. Olaf finally got on the board early in the second quarter, Central scored the next 23 points to take control. Hawkins finished 28-of-39 for 383 yards, while Mont tallied 13 catches for 164 yards before leaving with an injury late in the third quarter. Jason Hopp rushed 22 times for 156 yards and two scores.
Central starts the 2021 season 1-0 and hosts Kalamazoo of Michigan in the home opener next Saturday afternoon.
