The 11th annual Nana Jana Fun Run is one week away, taking place on Saturday, September 18th at Dan D. Farms near Knoxville. Owner Dan Denneson says he hosts this event to raise awareness about ovarian cancer, which took his wife’s life a decade ago.
“The Nana Jana Fun Run started in 2011, when I lost my wife to ovarian cancer. We had a corn maze at the time, and we thought it’d be a neat way to celebrate her and bring awareness about ovarian cancer. We were told that it’s known as a silent killer, and a lot of times, ladies don’t know they have it until it’s too late.”
Participants will run around the farm through varying terrain. A breakfast will be served afterwards. Registration costs $30 and must be completed by the end of the day Thursday online. Proceeds will be donated to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition.
The KNIA/KRLS Lil’ Big Red Radio will be on site to play music and make announcements. The run begins at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 18th at Dan D. Farms. On-site registration begins at 8:00 that morning. Click here to register.
