What was setting up to be a marquee matchup between top-five teams in Class 4A became a blowout Friday as #3 Norwalk fell on the road to #4 Lewis Central 31-3, as aired in KNIA3. Three of Norwalk’s first four drives of the game resulted in turnovers, two of which turned into Titan touchdowns in the first quarter. Lewis Central added another score in the second quarter to make it 21-0 at the half.

A promising start to the third quarter saw Norwalk march to the Lewis Central 30, which was their deepest field position of the game. That’s when quarterback Landon Hochstein threw his third interception of the game, which was followed by a 68-yard touchdown run by Lewis Central’s Jonathan Humpal a few plays later. A 53-yard field goal made it 31-0 late in the third. Norwalk scored their only points of the night on a 34-yard field goal by Keilor Rodman early in the fourth. Head Coach Paul Patterson says the mistakes snowballed upon each other.

The Warriors were plagued throughout the night by numerous miscues and the injury to leading receiver Bradeon Carlson. Norwalk moves to 2-1 overall, and will look to bounce back next week at home against Dallas Center-Grimes in the non-district finale.
