Pella traveled to compete against some of central Iowa’s best teams in the Metro Volleyball Classic, finishing in the tournament semifinals after three wins over ranked teams.

The No. 12 in 4A Dutch swept No. 12 in 5A Southeast Polk (24-22, 21-8), No. 12 in 3A Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont (25-23, 21-19), and Cedar Rapids Jefferson (21-9, 22-20) in pool play. In the Gold Bracket, Pella knocked off No. 6 in Class 5A Ankeny Centennial 2-1 (21-19, 28-30, 15-10) before falling to No. 5 in 4A and conference rival Oskaloosa in the round of four (16-21, 16-21).

Pella improves to 11-3 overall and returns to conference action at Newton Tuesday.
