The Central volleyball team hosted Grinnell Tuesday evening in a non-conference tilt, and came away with a 3-2 victory in a match that went the distance. The Dutch won a back-and-forth first set 25-22, before Grinnell put together a late surge in set 2 to win 25-21. Central found their stride in set 3 with a 25-16 win, but the Pioneers returned the favor in set 4, 25-15. In the fifth and decisive set, the Dutch fell behind 1-0, but rattled off five straight points to set the tone for the remainder of the set in a 15-8 win. Head Coach Jeanne Czipri says her team was able to make the correct in-game adjustments when it mattered most.
Krissa Larson led the way with 13 kills, while Amanda Smith had 26 digs. Teamwise, the Dutch had 13 service aces while Grinnell committed 16 service errors. Central moves to 4-4 overall, and returns to action Friday at the Millikin Invitational.
