A Community Common Reading Experience returns to Pella this fall with a focus on head injuries in sports. The Pella Wellness Consortium is hosting several events between Sept. 30th and October 14th, raising awareness about concussions.

Two discussions will be held about the book “Love, Zac” on September 30th at noon at West Market Park and 6 p.m. at the Cellar Peanut Pub. Written by Reid Forgrave, the story chronicles the struggles of head injuries former Indianola football standout Zac Easter dealt with until he took his own life.

A community program with Forgrave and Zac’s mother Brenda will be held on Thursday, October 7th at the Pella High School Library at 7 p.m.

One week later, a panel discussion about concussions will be held on Thursday, October 14th at 7 p.m. in the Pella High School Auditorium with local health professionals and sports coaches.
