Pleasantville’s cross country squads had eighth and ninth-place finishes in their meet at Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont, while the volleyball squad was swept in their home triangular.
The Trojans’ cross country squads struggled in their meet at Eddyville, as the two teams finished towards the bottom of the ranking. The girls finished eighth, finishing ahead of the host, Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont. The top runner was Sophia Mason for Pleasantville, who ran a 25:21. Rounding out the top three for the Trojans’ girls were Kyleigh and Ashlyn McConnell. The Trojans’ boys finished ninth in the meet. Pleasantville’s top finisher was Devon Luing with a time of 18:42. Rounding out the top three were Jenkin Fulmer and Kurt Kuhnen. Pleasantville will take a week off to prepare for their next meet, which is next Tuesday at Clarke.
The Trojans’ volleyball squad struggled against their fellow West Central Conference foe, Ogden, losing three sets to one. Pleasantville won the first set 25-20, but then proceeded to lose the next three, 20-25, 16-25, and 22-25. The Trojans were also swept by Grand View Christian in straight sets, losing 12-25 and 23-25. With the losses, Pleasantville drops to 9-8 on the season. Their losing streak has also extended to four.
After the rough showing Tuesday, Pleasantville will look to shake it off as they will square off with West Central Conference foe Van Meter next Tuesday at home. This will be the last match for Pleasantville before their home tournament next weekend.
