Unemployment rates declined again locally last month, according to county-by-county data released by Iowa Workforce Development this week.
In Marion County, 2.8% unemployment was reported in August, down from 3.1% in July. There are 17,480 individuals working, and 500 receiving benefits and seeking work. One year ago, the rate was 3.3% locally.
In Warren County, 3.2% unemployment was reported in August, down from 3.4% in July. The number of employed residents is at 27,300 and 900 individuals are considered unemployed but seeking work. One year ago, the rate was 3.9% locally.
Iowa’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was at 4.1% last month, maintained from July, and an improvement from 5.3% in 2020.
