The #9 in Class 4A Norwalk football team begins district play tonight when they travel to Boone to take on the Toreadors. The Warriors enter district play at 3-1, with some crisp performances to build upon. Head Coach Paul Patterson says that while Boone may not be the most talented team Norwalk will face this year, his team needs to still focus on being great.

“Our theme for the week has been excellence. What we’ve talked about is excellence doesn’t have anything to do with anybody but yourself. That’s been really big for us and something we’ve been pushing. How can we get better regardless of what’s coming up. That’s ultimately what we want, not to focus solely on who we’re playing, but how do we get better each day. That’s what we’re focusing on as far as our prep.”

Norwalk will enjoy the return of receiver Braedon Carlson, who missed last week’s game against Dallas Center-Grimes.

Boone enters 0-4 overall, and is very prone to turnovers. They’ve scored just two offensive touchdowns this season, and the program hasn’t won a game since October 18th, 2019 against Perry. Boone leads the overall series 7-2, but the teams haven’t met since 2007.

Tonight’s game will air on KNIA3 with Jon Mohwinkle and Dawson Livingston on the call. Pregame coverage begins at 6:30, with the opening kickoff from Goeppinger Field in Boone scheduled for 7:30.
