The City of Knoxville is moving forward with a housing development near Walmart. 155 market rate rental units will be constructed, and City Manager Heather Ussery says it’s scheduled to begin this year.
“Their hope is still to break ground yet this fall and be able to start laying the infrastructure for that. Then they’ll pick up again in the spring, and it’ll go through the 2022 construction season, but they’ll start breaking ground yet this fall.”
An exact start date has not yet been determined. The project also calls for the extension of W Bell Avenue into the development area, which was also approved by the city council.
