Pella Historical Society and Museums celebrated the completion of the Forging our Future Campaign and renovations to the Boyhood Home of Wyatt Earp this past Saturday with Wyatt Earp Days.
The two-day celebration brought in students from local schools on Friday and opened the gates of the Pella Historical Village to all visitors and the community on Saturday, with artisans in the village and several-themed activities featuring the famous lawman of The Old West about his life as a child growing up in Pella.
Descendants of the Earp family were in attendance and wore special shirts, and discussed their lineage with those who approached and asked. A special performance of the “Wooden Shoe” incident from Wyatt’s childhood was performed by local children at high noon on Franklin Street.
