Cases of COVID-19 stayed steady in Warren County to begin October, with 167 new positive tests over the last week, with a 12% test positivity rate. Eighty-one percent of the new positive cases come from those aged 59 and under. Warren County has had 8,048 positive tests since the beginning of the pandemic, the 11th most for counties in Iowa.
The Indianola Community School District COVID-19 dashboard shows between 0-5 students or staff in each school in the district. Any cases less than six must be reported as between 0-5.
The New York Times Coronavirus Database shows 53% of Warren County residents are fully vaccinated, while Iowa as a state is 54%, and the current risk in the county for unvaccinated adults is listed as extreme.
According to the Iowa Department of Public Health, Iowa residents not fully vaccinated account for 76.5% of patients hospitalized for COVID-19, and 84.1% of the ICU beds.
