With playoff seeding on the line, PCM closed out the regular season with a resounding 43-20 victory over Roland-Story at Kerry Van Winkle Field, as broadcast on the KRLS3 stream at kniakrls.com.

The Mustangs got the scoring started with a four-yard run from Aiden Anderson followed by a two-point conversion to make the score 8-0. PCM would score again on a five-yard run from Kaden Hale to make it 15-0. After that, the starting quarterbacks traded touchdown passes in the second quarter. Roland-Story quarterback Quin Ante connected with Will Bunn for 63 yards to make it 15-8. PCM’s Carson Vandelune responded with a five-yard pass to Matt Rosonke. Ante connected with Bunn again to make the score 22-14. PCM closed out the half with a 52-yard touchdown pass from Vandelune to Rosonke. After the half, PCM got two 45-yard touchdowns on their first two offensive plays of the half from Anderson. Roland-Story would add a touchdown in the fourth quarter to make the final score 43-20.

Carson Vandelune continued to throw the ball effectively as he went eight for nine for 155 yards and three scores. Matt Rosonke had three catches for 67 yards and two touchdowns. The Mustangs gained 412 yards of offense, a season-high. Despite the victory, Coach Greg Bonnett says that there are still a few things that need to be tweaked in order for PCM to make a run in the playoffs.

“I think we can get there. I really do. I think the focus is going to come. I think when they see us making the adjustments tonight they have to know that it’s how it has to be. I think we can really get better.”

PCM will wait to see who they play in the first round of the playoffs as the pairings for the postseason will be released today. Stay tuned to KNIA/KRLS for the latest on the high school football playoffs.
