A grand opening ceremony opened a highly-anticipated upgrade at Kiwanis Park in Pella on Saturday.

Wonder Spelen is complete, and dozens of children enjoyed the all-access playground following a ribbon cutting featuring members of the Pella Kiwanis, Mayor Don DeWaard, and the board of the non-profit organization.

Mark Wiskus is Chair of Wonder Spelen, and says it was the perfect morning to open up a project that captures the spirit of giving in the community.

Pella Community Services Director Jeanette Vaughan says the playground with several features that make it usable by children of all abilities is open from dawn to dusk on North Main Street, with the on-site restroom facilities available until they need to winterize in early November.

The KNIA/KRLS Lil’ Big Red Radio was at the ceremony for sound. Hear more about Wonder Spelen on Monday’s Let’s Talk Pella.
