It is the class 4A volleyball squad’s turn to start their regional round play and two area teams match up tonight in Indianola. The #13 ranked Indians host Knoxville in a first round match up. The Panthers have had an uneven season starting off 0-3 in the South Central Conference, losing two of those matches after holding a 2-0 lead. That has essentially been the theme for Knoxville this season but Coach Mollie Keitges is confident her squad has what it takes to match up with Indianola tonight.
Keitges: “The girls are coming to practice still with energy and wanting to get better and I like where we’re at and I think we’re going to be ready to go.”
The Panthers just finished a 3-1 day at their own invitational on Saturday and come into tonight’s match with a 23-14 record. Meanwhile Indianola comes in with a similar 25-14 record, however the Indians have run the gauntlet of the Little Hawkeye Conference plus several matches against 5A competition. The Indians are led by Lauren Blake’s 349 kills, and she along with Tori Runyan have 611 of the team’s 778 assists. First serve from Indianola High School is set for 7:00.
