The Knoxville Noon Kiwanis is sponsoring two performances of “The Emperor’s New Clothes” adapted by the Missoula Children’s Theatre on Saturday. This is a traveling group of directors who put on week-long acting seminars to youth in grades K-12. Kiwanis member Lily Maasdam says this will be a different experience than the traditional story.
“It’s an old fairytale, but what Missoula does is they have writers that will put their own spin or adaptation of it. You may think you know what the play is going to be about, but it’s always surprising how they twist it. Don’t expect the same fairytale that you know or the Disney version, because it’ll be different.”
Auditions were held Monday, and performances will be Saturday, October 23rd at noon and 3:00 p.m. at Celebrate Church in Knoxville.
