The Norwalk volleyball team is two wins away from a state tournament appearance, as they travel to Winterset tonight for the semifinal round of Class 4A Region 4. It’s a return trip, as Norwalk played at a tournament hosted by the Huskies Saturday. The Warriors got to this round with a quarterfinal sweep of Carlisle at home, while Winterset is playing their first postseason game after earning a bye. Senior Abby Brenizer says the Warriors got a scouting report when they played at Winterset’s tournament on Saturday.
Norwalk won that match 2-1, taking sets 2 and 3. The Huskies had a successful regular season at 19-5, and just dropped out of the Class 4A rankings. Tonight’s match begins at 7:00 p.m. inside the Winterset High School gymnasium. The winner takes on either Cedar Rapids Xavier or Newton in the regional final Tuesday.
