pleasantville-3

The Pleasantville Football Team had their season come to a close Friday night in the First Round of the Iowa High School Playoffs, as #1 in Class 1A Van Meter defeated the Trojans 77-14.

The Bulldogs proved to be the top team in Class 1A, connecting for multiple big plays including two kickoff returns for touchdown, to run away from the Trojans in this game. The Trojans didn’t go down without a fight, scoring 14 points and throwing for 176 yards against Van Meter. The 14 points scored by Pleasantville were tied for the most points allowed by the Bulldogs this season, and made the Trojans just the third team this season to score on Van Meter. Pleasantville Head Coach Mack Jorth said that he’s proud of how his team played and is disappointed that the season has come to an end.

“You know, we’re just bummed that it’s (the season) over. We wish we could go out and game plan and prepare and practice one more week, and have another opportunity to play because I believe we’ve played our best football as of late, but it is what it is.”

Pleasantville finishes the season with a 4-5 overall record and a 2-3 record in district play.
