The Norwalk football team was not able to overcome an early blow in a 23-7 loss at Bondurant-Farrar Friday night, as aired on KNIA3. Quarterback Landon Hochstein sustained a wrist injury during Norwalk’s first offensive drive and did not return. Instead, it was quarterback by committee, with wide receiver Braedon Carlson taking the reins in the first half, and defensive back Ky Pearson in the second half.
The Bluejays scored three first half touchdowns with running back Titus Cram, two of which directly followed Norwalk turnovers. Bondurant-Farrar also tacked on a field goal for a 23-7 halftime lead. Norwalk held the Bluejays off the scoreboard in the second half, but could not sustain offensive rhythm. The lone score of the night came from Ky Pearson on the ground after the Warriors recovered a fumbled punt snap. Head Coach Paul Patterson says the loss of his quarterback made it tough for the offense to perform.
Norwalk had three turnovers, punted six times, and turned it over on downs twice. The Warriors end the regular season 6-3, and have qualified for the playoffs as an at-large.
