Pella Christian cross country will travel north this weekend to Fort Dodge to compete in the Class 1A State Meet.
It’s been a cross country season to remember on Eagle Lane. The Eagles had the most runners in school history. Joslyn Terpstra became the first girl in school history to break the 20 minute mark at the Moravia meet. The Pella Christian boys team entered the rankings for the first time in 11 years and the girls team entered the rankings for the first time in 12 years. Now ahead of the Eagle boys first trip to state since 2010, and Terpstra and Jaclyn Holmes first State Meet appearance, Terpstra says the goal is to limit the pressure of the big stage.
“It’s really nerve-racking, but it’s just important to just try to stay relaxed and once the race starts, everyone is just running and trying to get to the end of the race. So, I’m going to try and not put a lot of pressure on myself at the State Meet because it’s just super exciting I even got there.”
The State Meet will begin with the girls race at 2:30 pm, followed by the boys race at 3:15 pm.
