Norwalk starting quarterback Landon Hochstein’s season is over, sustaining a wrist injury early in last week’s loss at Bondurant-Farrar. Now, the Warriors will have a different, but familiar face at quarterback, beginning with Friday’s first round playoff game at Webster City. Senior Ky Pearson will get the nod, and will play both offense and defense. Head Coach Paul Patterson says Pearson has plenty of quarterback experience through the levels, and is thankful for the week of preparation.
“Ky is new this year, but not new to the position. This senior class has had him at quarterback since 3rd grade. He was in the running for the starting job last year, and decided to switch to defensive back, which turned out to be a great decision for him to go over to defense, and is a great defensive back for us. Now what he’s got is some experience under his belt, and we have a week to prepare with him, and that’s huge.”
Pearson appeared in the second half of last week’s game, going 4/13 for 37 yards and an interception. He rushed for nine yards, including a touchdown. Friday’s game will air on KNIA3, and kicks off at 7:00 p.m. at Webster City High School.
