The Indianola City Council approved the vacation of an alley at their meeting Monday, after meeting with adjoining property owners and going through the full process set forth by council and staff. City Manager Ryan Waller tells KNIA News he feels the approval of the vacation is a big bonus for all involved, as it puts property back on the tax rolls for the city, and helps a resident with their business. Waller also said after city staff made some suggestions on how to move forward, it was a good example of how city staff works with residents to the best of their ability.
“We do this on a daily basis. Folks aren’t always building something, they aren’t always developing something, and so they may not be aware of some things. So one of the best things to do is call staff, we’ll walk you through it, and we’ll kind of let you know what the requirements are and what the code says. And we can also let you know what are some of the things you can do to help simplify the process for you.”
