
The Marion County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Tuesday. They approved rezoning ordinances and approved a plat for the expansion of the Mart Farm subdivision on Highway S71, as well as for a Nextlink internet tower at 2438 Story Drive near Bussey. They awarded contracts for a bridge replacement on Story Drive near 94th Place, and patching on G28. Facilities and Maintenance Director Chris Nesteby shared that the VA campus demolition project is progressing as scheduled.
The board discussed America Rescue Plan dollars, with consensus among the board to draft resolutions on conservation, facilities and the road department for the next meeting, with initial estimates totaling $3,311,000. They opened sealed bids for county tax sales, approved a road upgrade of Fillmore Drive near Roberts Creek Campground, approved a special event application for Thrive Knoxville’s Living Windows, and authorized Attorney Ed Bull to be the signatory on all class action settlement documents regarding opioids.
After the meeting, the board canvassed the 2021 election. A special supervisors meeting will be held Monday to authorize Auditor Jake Grandia to perform requested recounts.
