A fire in Indianola caused a victim to be transported by helicopter Wednesday evening.
According to the Indianola Fire Department, at approximately 8:10pm a fire was reported at 701 W Boston Ave, and a male victim had gotten out of the home but a female victim was still inside the structure.
Upon arrival, fire crews found flames coming from windows and doors on the front of the house and fire crews made entry and were able to remove the female victim from the home. She was flown by helicopter to the burn center at the University of Iowa Medical Center in Iowa City, while the male victim was transported by ambulance to Mercy Medical Center ER, Des Moines, for treatment of burn injuries. The house is owned by Junior and Vickie Kirkpatrick.
The Hartford, Milo and Carlisle Fire Departments were also on scene. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
