The Indianola City Council named Community and Economic Development Director Charlie Dissell as Interim City Manager on Monday, taking over the position while a search for a new city manager takes place. Dissell tells KNIA News he views the role as helping the city as it goes through a transitional period of changing leadership.

“I see this job going into the interim role as pretty important. Come January, we are going to be dealing with a new council, and with that I see this as an advocate between current council, new council, and staff and just an advocate to go through that transition. So we’ll be working with the existing council through the end of this year, but then also transitioning into a new city manager. We are going to be going through a selection period over the next few months to get that position hired, and making sure the processes set up to select that person are in place.”
