As part of the infrastructure bill passed by the US Congress and signed into law by President Biden, Iowa will be receiving funds to help upgrade the rural areas to receive internet and to upgrade the state’s cyber security. Congresswoman Cindy Axne tells KNIA News expanding internet coverage will be a huge benefit to those in rural Iowa.

“We will get at least $100 million in Iowa for expanded broadband internet coverage, and I believe we will get even more than that, that is the minimum. We have unserved areas, and those will be the first addressed and so I believe that we will see more support for that as well. And then to make sure that we protect our energy grid and our water supply etc, $15 million to Iowa to protect against cyber attacks.”
