The 2021 holiday season is underway in Pella following the annual De Kerstdagen Tour of Stores Monday evening.

Storefronts remained open after hours as many new holiday decorations lit up the Central Business District for the first time ahead of Christmas. A special ceremony was held featuring performances from the Union Street Players, Pella Christian Spanish Immersion Carolers, and Pella Community Schools Elementary Choir ahead of Santa and Mrs. Claus arrival and the lighting of the tree. Mayor Don DeWaard welcomed in the Christmas season with a proclamation as well.

Marion County Bank sold discounted Pella Bucks and carriage rides were also given throughout the evening with hot cocoa provided as the KNIA/KRLS Lil’ Big Red Radio provided updates and promoted the KNIA/KRLS Big Red Radio Food Drive.
